The Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy is Virginia’s oldest faith-based advocacy group. We are a nonpartisan coalition of faith communities working to create progressive public policy by engaging people of faith, educating the public about social issues, the legislative process, and the call to advocacy.

The Virginia Conference is involved in ministries in a wide range of areas — evangelism, social justice, ministry with persons with disabilities, disaster response, mission, campus ministry, ministry with children and youth, ministry with singles, ministry with older adults, ministry with families, ministries specifically for men and women, ethnic ministries, discipleship, communications, the laity — all under the umbrella of the Common Table. These conference offices help provide local churches with expertise in reaching out to all God’s people to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

What The United Methodist Church says on War and Peace with Iraq
A preemptive war by the United States against a nation like Iraq goes against the very grain of our understanding of the Gospel, our church’s teachings, and our conscience.
Preemptive strike does not reflect restraint and does not allow for the adequate pursuit of
peaceful means for resolving conflict.
